A nitroglycerin carrier comprises a polymeric ointment-forming powder having nitroglycerin adsorbed upon the particles thereof in the amount of about 1 to 20 parts of nitroglycerin per 100 parts of the total carrier. Formulations comprise from 40 to 90 wt.% of viscous greasy base and form 60 to 10 wt.% of ointment-forming powder carrying nitroglycerin. A bandage has a surface bearing a medicament supply containing nitroglycerin together with a carrier medium which is permeable to the passage of nitroglycerin, the medicament supply being adapted to be held in direct contact with the skin and being capable of supporting a substantially constant rate of nitroglycerin absorption through the skin for at least about eight hours. |
