titleOfInvention A self-contained, rapid field diagnostic system for blood samples
abstract A device comprising an hermetically sealed, injection moulded, high clarity polymer tube, of rectangular cross-section, with a vertical compartment for a water vapour and gas permeable but liquid water impermeable, oxygen scavenging sachet and containing a predetermined volume of an osmotically obliged, non-electrolyte solution is claimed. The system provides for a oxygen free environment arranged to interact with blood samples for example and is a self-contained, rugged, disposable system for the rapid field diagnosis of and prognosis guide for Sickle Cell Disease or anemia. The oxygen scavenging agent may be finely divided iron, ascorbic acid, calcium or sodium ascorbate or sodium erythorbate.
