titleOfInvention Photographic light-sensitive compounds and sheets for the colour diffusion-transfer process
abstract A photographic light-sensitive sheet for the colour diffusion-transfer process which comprises a support having thereon at least one light- sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a compound (dye image providing material) represented by the following general formula: <IMAGE> wherein Q<1> represents a hydrogen or halogen atom, a specified substituted sulfamoyl, sulfonyl, carboxyl or amido group; Q<2> is at the 5- or the 8-position to the hydroxy group and is a hydroxy group or a group -NHCOR or -NHSO2R (R is H or alkyl); R<1a> is an alkylene group having 2 or more carbon atoms; R<2a> is an alkyl group; Y is a moiety (e.g. an N-substituted sulfamoyl group) which releases or provides as a result of alkaline development processing an azo dye having a different diffusibility from the compound; m, n, p and q each is 0 or 1; J is a divalent sulfonyl or carbonyl group; Z is hydrogen or a (substituted) alkyl group; X<1> represents a divalent bonding group represented by the formula -A1-(L)n-(A2)p- wherein A1 and A2 are the same or different and each is an alkylene or arylene group; L is a divalent oxy, carbonyl, carboxyamido, a carbamoyl, sulfonamide, sulfamoyl, sulfinyl or sulfonyl group; G is a hydroxyl group or a salt thereof, or a hydrolyzable acyloxy group <IMAGE> wherein E is a (substituted) alkyl or aryl. 52 specific compounds of that formula are given. The compounds form, on alkaline oxidation, magenta dye of good light- fastness. Methods of synthesis of the compounds from intermediates are described.
