titleOfInvention | Preparation of aqueous solutions of alkali metal salts of Armstrong Acid |
abstract | The solutions of 2-hydroxy-1- naphthalenesulfonic acid (Armstrong Acid) are obtained by simultaneously and continuously mixing separate streams of a solution of 2- hydroxynaphthalene in a water-immiscible organic solvent and of chlorosulfonic acid under controlled mixing ratios at from about 0-50 DEG C for a period of about 1 to 120 minutes, whereafter the reaction mixture containing Armstrong Acid is treated with aqueous alkali to form the desired alkali metal salt solution. |
