titleOfInvention Process for the Production in the Printing and Dyeing of Textile Fabrics, of the Colours Ordinarily Produced by Means of Betanaphthol.
abstract 22,915. Heilmann & Co., and Battegay, M. Oct. 17, 1910, [Convention date]. Azo dyes, forming on the material; printing. -2-Naphthol-1-carboxylic acid is employed instead of 2-naphthol in the production of azo dyes on the fibre by dyeing or printing processes, the carboxylic group being split off in the process. The process may be used in conjunction with the printing of aniline black, vat dyes, chrome mordant dyes, or tannin dyes; it is also applicable to the production of nitrosamine red in one operation, and the production of a bluered shade with dianisidine. The following examples of padding baths are given: (1) 2- naphthol-1-carboxylic acid, soda lye, castor oil soap, and water; (2) 2-naphthol-1-carboxylic acid, soda lye, castor oil soap, tartar emetic, and water; (3) 2-naphthol-1-carboxylic acid, calcined soda. castor oil soap, and water. According to examples: (a) the goods are padded with the bath (1), then printed with a paste containing brilliant indigo B, rongalite C, glycerine, and alkaline starch thickening, steamed, and dyed in a bath of diazotized pnitraniline containing sodium bichromate; (b) the goods are padded in the bath (2), then printed with a paste containing modern violet, acetin, rongalite C, and starch-tragacanth thickening, tannin, and chromium acetate, dried, steamed, and dyed as in (a) ; (c) the goods are printed with a paste containing nitrosamine B, 2-naphthol-1-carboxylic acid, tragacanth or starch-tragacanth thickening, castor oil soap, soda lye, and sodium aluminate, then dried, allowed to lie or steamed, acidified, washed, &c. ; (d) the goods are padded in the bath (3), then printed with a paste containing aniline oil, aniline salt, sodium chlorate, copper sulphide, maize starch, and burnt starch, then dried, steamed, and dyed as in (a), or the black is printed together with ice red, steamed, &c. The 2- naphthol-1-carboxylic acid may be used in conjunction with 2-naphthol, 2-naphthol-3-carboxylic acid, F acid, &c. Specifications 15,404/93, [Class 2, Acids and salts, Organic, &c.], 11,757/95 and 765/07 are referred to
