abstract | 15,886. Continental Caoutchouc und Gutta Percha Cie. July 22, 1910, [Convention date]. Paints.-A paint for protecting metal surfaces in contact with sea-water from corrosion and fouling consists of raw india-rubber or gutta-percha, dissolved in a solvent such as naphtha, carbon tetrachloride, &c. and a substance of a bituminous nature such as asphalt, resin, &c. One or more outer coats of the solution of india-rubber or gutta-percha alone may be applied, and these coats are stated to become slimy in contact with sea-water, and so prevent the adhesion of marine animals. Colours may be added. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) comprises also the production of a compound coating consisting of a coating of rubber or gutta-percha glue, a coating of priming, a coating of anti-fouling composition containing poisonous substances, and which may also contain rubber or gutta-percha glue, and a final coating of rubber or gutta-percha glue. The surface to be coated may be first treated with tar or asphalt composition. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. |
