Formic, propionic, butyric, benzoic, oleic, angelic, and other compound esters may be employed, or the amorphous cellulose from decomposed cellulose xanthate. The ester &c. is dissolved in chloroform &c., and its brittleness may be reduced with phenol, cresol, or castor oil. The mixture may be rendered adhesive by the addition of Canada balsam, Venice turpentine, or rubber. |
