titleOfInvention Improved manufacture of durable preparations of active animal amylases
abstract Animal amylases are obtained in stable form, either solid or in solution, by adding in the course of their preparation suitable water-soluble organic colloids such as gum, gelatine, gummy and gelatinous substances and their degradation products, mucous substances, soluble albumin derivatives, or soluble starches or dextrins. Further, by addition of suitable chemicals in known manner, the ion concentration may be maintained at a value suitable for the preservation of an amylase. In an example an active aqueous extract from an animal organ (salivary glands, pancreas &c.) is evaporated in vacuo and obtained in dry form upon an inorganic salt, such as sodium sulphate or phosphate, in known manner, with addition of a protective colloid such as gum arabic; the preparation may further be stirred at 40 DEG C. with gum arabic solution and dried. The products may be used for pharmaceutical and other purposes.
