abstract | A process is described for the preparation of N-(2-methyl-4-chlorophenyl)formamidine derivative of the formula <IMAGE> in which R1 denotes hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R2 denotes an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, which is based on reacting an alkyl formamide with an inorganic acid chloride, condensation of the resulting intermediate with o-toluidine and chlorination of the resulting N-(2-methylphenyl)formamidine derivative. The essential feature of the process is that all reaction steps are carried out in a halogenated hydrocarbon. The N-(2-methyl-4-chlorophenyl)formamidine derivatives of the above formula which can be prepared by this process are pesticides, in particular acaricides. |
