titleOfInvention | Insecticidal compositions which exhibit a synergistic effect |
abstract | 1535621 Insecticides AIRWICK AG 18 Feb 1977 [20 Feb 1976] 6907/77 Heading A5E An insecticidal composition contains (a) an ortho-substituted phenyl N-methyl carbamate, and at least one of the following active materials (b), (c) and (d): (b) O, O-dimethyl O-(2-methoxy carbonyl-prop-1-enyl) phosphorothioate, (DMPTP) (c) O, O-dimethyl S-(4- aza-6-chloro - 2 - oxo-benzoxazol-3-yl) - methyl phosphorothioate (azamethiphos), and (d) O, O-dimethyl-O-(3-methyl-4-nitrophenyl) phosphorothioate (fenitrothion). Compound (c) is also called O, O-dimethyl S-[6-chloro-oxazole (4, 5-6)-2 (3H)-pyridin-3-one]-methyl phosphorothioate. The ortho-substituted phenyl N- methyl carbamate may be of the formula: in which R represents an alkyl radical containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms, an alkoxy radical containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a propargyloxy radical, a dialkoxymethyl radical in which each alkoxy group contains 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a dioxolanyl, dioxanyl or benzodioxanyl radical, these last three radicals being unsubstituted or substituted by one or more methyl radicals. Preferably R represents an isopropoxy radical, a (1, 3-dioxolan-2-yl) radical or a 2, 2-dimethyl benzo-1-3 dioxolan- 4-yl radical. Preferred compounds are those known as arprocarb, dioxacarb and bendiocarb. Dioxacarb is also called elocron. The ratio of the active materials in the combination may be from 0.2 to 5 parts of one for each part of the other. The composition may also contain as adjuvants, a foodstuff, surfaceactive agent, dyestuff, pigment, stabiliser, solid or liquid diluent or propellant compatible with the active materials used. Preferred stabilisers include magnesium carbonate, a buffer salt of pH 6 to 7, an epoxidised compound or a fatty monoester of sorbitan. |
