abstract | 1533523 Polymerizing unsaturated esters of polyfluoroalkylthioalcohols CIBA GEIGY AG 24 Jan 1977 [11 Feb 1976] 2771/77 Heading C3P [Also in Division C2] The invention comprises a polymeric compound containing repeating units of the structure wherein R 1 and R 2 are each C n H 2n , wherein n is 1 to 12 and may be straight-chain or branched; R 3 is hydrogen or C n H 2n+1 , wherein n is 1 to 12 and may be straight-chain or branched; R 4 , R 5 and R 6 are hydrogen, methyl or wherein x is zero or 1, provided that at least one of R 4 , R 5 and R 6 is hydrogen or methyl; and R f is C p F 2p+1 or C p F 2p+1 OC q F 2q wherein p is 3 to 18, q is 2 to 8. Examples 11 to 14 describe the copolymerization of bis - [(2,3 - di - (1,1,2,2- tetrahydroperfluoroalkylthio) - propyl] - fumarate with vinyl acetate, styrene, vinyl methyl ether and vinyl pyrrolidone respectively, Example 15 describes the homopolymerization of bis - [2,3 - di - (1,1,2,2 - tetrahydroperfluoroalkylthio) - propyl)fumarate, Examples 16 and 17 describe the copolymerization of bis- (2,3 - di - (1,1,2,2 - tetrahydroperfluorodecylthio) - propyl) - fumarate with vinyl - 2- methoxy ethyl ether and styrene respectively. Example 18 describes the preparation of the homopolymer of 2,2 - bis - (1,1,2,2 - tetrahydroperfluorodecylthio)-propyl methacrylate. |
