abstract 1532691 Coating composition GULF & WESTERN MFG CO 9 Jan 1976 [27 Jan 1975] 00764/76 Headings C3B C3P C3R and C3V A coating composition comprises: (I) a polymerizable vinyl monomer; (II) a polyurethane resin; (III) an epoxy resin prepolymer; (IV) an epoxy resin hardening agent; (V) a peroxide polymerization initiator; and (VI) a source of silver ions dissolved in a solvent system for said ingredients. I may be a polyfunctional monomer, e.g. hydroxyethyl or hydroxypropyl methacrylate. II may be a prepolymer containing 1-6% reactive NCO groups. III may be a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A. IV may be a polyamine. VI may be a silver salt or partly from silver metal. In Examples V and VI are benzoyl peroxide and silver perchlorate. The composition may contain a pigment (VII) and a pigment coupling agent (VIII), e.g. an organosilane. The composition may contain (by wt.): 0À5-5% I, 2-10% II, 0À5-3% III, 2À5-20% IV; 0À03-1% V, 10-100 p.p.m. VI, 0-20% VII and 0-2% VIII.
