abstract | 1528951 Polyether derivatives AGFA GEVAERT 12 Jan 1976 [22 Jan 1975] 2866/75 Heading C2C [Also in Divisions G2 and C3] Compounds of the formula wherein R 1 is hydrogen, C 1-5 alkyl or the group X-A-Y-R 2 , n is an integer of value at least 4, or if R 1 is X-A-Y-R 2 and X is a monovalent chemical bond, is at least 2, X is CO, SO 2 , CONH or when R 1 is X-A-Y-R 2 , may be a monovalent chemical bond, A is alkylene, substituted alkylene or arylene, Y is sulphur or selenium atom and R 2 is alkyl or substituted alkyl are prepared for use as additives to photographic developers. In examples, polyethylene glycol derivatives are obtained by reacting (1) polyethylene glycol (MW 200) and p-methylselenobenzoyl chloride; (2) polyethylene glycol (MW 200) and p-methylthiobenzoyl chloride; and (3) the bis-toluene sulphonic acid ester of polyethylene glycol (MW 200) and mercaptoethanol. |
