Compounds I are prepared (i) by hydrolysis of the corresponding P-chloro compounds; or (ii) by transesterification of a dialkyl phosphite with a #-glycol. Compounds II are prepared (i) by saponification of compounds I; or (ii) by dealkylating the corresponding diesters using a sodium halide or hydroxide. Fungicidal compositions comprise a compound I or II and a carrier.
