Process for the control of bulk polymerisation of vinyl-or vinylidene halides |
abstract |
1526971 Controlling the bulk polymerization of vinyl or vinylidene halides B F GOODRICH CO 29 Sept 1975 [30 Sept 1974] 39722/75 Heading C3P The bulk polymerization of a vinyl or vinylidene halide of the formula CH 2 = CXY where X is Cl, Br or F and Y is H, Cl, Br or F using a free radical initiator is controlled by the addition of nitric oxide. The nitric oxide may be added after the monomer conversion has reached a certain stage, in an amount either to terminate the polymerization or to reduce the rate thereof. In the processes exemplified vinyl chloride is polymerized in the presence of sec butyl peroxy dicarbonate and either polyvinylchloride or sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate. |
