This composition contains in aqueous solution: (i) a surfactant chosen from the group consisting of sorbitan monolaurate and monooleate oxyethylenated using 20 mol of ethylene oxide, or a mixture of these compounds, (ii) at least one preservative chosen from the group consisting of sodium ethylmercurithiosalicylate, a chlorhexidine salt, a phenylmercury salt, a mixture consisting of 30 % of sodium benzoate and 70 % of chloroacetamide and a compound corresponding to the following formula: <IMAGE> in which: R represents an alkyl radical having from 12 to 18 carbon atoms, and (iii) a phosphate buffer, the pH of the abovementioned composition being between 6.5 and 7.5. Such a composition is more especially suitable for removing make-up from the eyes, since it does not irritate or sting the ocular mucosa. |
