titleOfInvention Thermal treatment of materials by hot particulates
abstract 1523886 Recycling fluidised bed fires, moving bed filter COMMONWEALTH SCIENTIFIC & INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH ORGANISATION 24 July 1975 [24 July 1974] 31076/75 Headings BID and BIF [Also in Divisions C5 and F4] A feedstock for a fluidised bed combuster in the form of particulate material or a slurry is mixed with hot particles extracted from the bed in a non fluidised mixing chamber and at least part of the mixture is fed to the combuster, the mixture in the case of a slurry feedstock having not more than 10% non solid content. Particles falling from a fluidised bed into a chamber 31 Fig. 3 or carried from the bed by a conveyor, and mixed with a slurry or sprayed with liquid waste, steam being given off through a vent 32 and the mixture is returned to the bed by a second screw 33b. The hot particles may move downwardly by gravity through the mixing chamber (Fig. 4). The mixing chamber 50 may be a water filter bed, Fig. 5, the bed particles being regenerated in the combustion chamber 54, and treatment material being added at the top of the mixing chamber at 59. The apparatus may be used for gasification of coal, incineration, or treatment of ores.
