1518669 Hydraulic fluid IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 23 May 1975 [7 June 1974] 25342/74 Heading C5F [Also in Division C2] A hydraulic fluid comprises a borate of general formula where C is a glycol residue and A is a glycol ether residue. The residues C and A may be derived from ethylene, propylene or butylene glycol, neopentyl glycol or a polyethylene or polypropylene glycol or a glycol derived from mixed ethylene oxide/propylene oxide units, the glycol ether particularly being a C 1-6 alkyl ether. The borate may comprise 5-98% by weight of the fluid which may also comprise 20-80% of a glycol mono- or di-ether; a polyglycol of molecular weight above 150; a pH control and corrosion inhibitor such as an alkali metal borate, an amine, a morpholine, mercaptobenzotriazole, benzotriazole, or a nitrite; or an antioxidant such as 2,4-dimethyl-6-tert. butylphenol, 4-methyl-2,6-di-tert. butylphenol, phenothiazine or a substituted phenylene diamine. |
