titleOfInvention Viscose fibres of high fluid-holding capacity
abstract 1517398 Viscose/N-vinyl amide polymer fibres AVTEX FIBERS Inc 6 Nov 1975 46127/75 Headings C3F and C3M So-called alloy rayon fibres having a higher fluid holding capacity than conventional rayon fibres comprise a regenerated cellulose matrix and a water-soluble N-vinyl amide polymer dispensed therein in an amount sufficient to increase the fluid holding capacity by more than 20%. Suitable N-vinyl amide polymers are polymers of one or more of vinyl pyrrolidone or another N-vinyl lactam, an N-vinyl-2- oxazolinone or an N-vinyl-3-morpholinone. A water soluble anionic polymer such as salts of carboxyalkyl celluloses, salts of (meth)acrylic acid polymers, salts of maleic acid or itaconic acid/vinyl methyl ether copolymers and naturally occurring algins. The fibres are formed by spinning a blend of viscose and the water soluble polymer(s) into a coagulating bath.
