titleOfInvention | Process and reagent for determining total and bound cholesterol |
abstract | 1516820 Determination of cholesterol BOEHRINGER MANNHEIM GmbH 2 Aug 1977 [29 Oct 1976] 32372/77 Addition to 1429526 Heading G1B [Also in Division C3] A process for the determination of total or bound cholesterol comprises liberating bound cholesterol with a cholesterol esterase and simultaneously or subsequently determining the cholesterol with an NAD- or NADP-dependent cholesterol dehydrogenase obtained from an anaerobic micro-organism or from mammalian liver, for example from Eubacterium sp. ATCC 21408. A reagent for carrying out the process comprises cholesterol esterase, the dehydrogenase, if the determination is not to be made by measurement of NADH or NADPH, means for example 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine for the determination of cholesterone, a buffer for providing pH 4À5 to 8À5 and optionally a stabilizing agent and/or a surface active agent. |
