titleOfInvention Magenta-forming couplers and silver halide photographic materials containing them
abstract 1516547 Photographic magenta-forming two equivalent couplers FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 13 Aug 1975 [13 Aug 1974] 33803/75 Heading G2C [Also in Division C2] A photographic silver halide material contains a coupler of the Formula:- where coup is the residue obtained by removal of H from an active methylene group of a magentaforming coupler; B is substituted in place of the H atom removed and is where Z a , Zb, Z c and Zd are each an optionally substituted methine or N, or B is one of the Formulae:- where Z<SP>1</SP> completes a 5- or 6- membered carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring and Z<SP>2</SP> completes a 5- or 6- membered non-aromatic carbocyclic ring or a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring containing N or a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring containing O or S and each of the methine groups or Z<SP>1</SP> or Z<SP>2</SP> may be substituted with a group containing up to 4 OC, and Z<SP>1</SP> and Z<SP>2</SP> may represent a bicyclic nucleus, or B is a 2-indazolyl group. Coup is preferably a pyrazolin-5-one or pyrazolo [2,3-a] benzimidazole derivative. The coupler may be dimeric. In specified couplers B is 1-imidazolyl, 2-methyl-1-imidazolyl, 2-methylthio-1-imidazolyl, 2-phenyl-1-imidazolyl, 1-pynolyl, 4-tetradecanamido-1-imidazolyl, 3,4-dichloro-1-pyrrolyl, or 1,2,4-triazol-4-yl. In Example 4 the material is a colour diffusion transfer material containing specified coupler (10). Other materials and specified couplers are of the non- transfer type. The couplers form sharp and fast colour images without undesired fog or stain.
