abstract 1516368 Hydroxy-containing vinyl chloride copolymer BASF AG 20 Oct 1975 [25 Oct 1974] 42888/75 Heading C3P A binder based on a hydroxyl-containing vinyl chloride copolymer having a K value according to Fikertscher of 30-60 has the following composition of polymerized units and 50-90% w/w of vinyl chloride, 5-40% w/w of a hydroxyalkylacrylate or methacrylate (alkyl C2-4), 5-40% w/w of t-butyl acrylate or methacrylate, and 0-10% w/w of one or more further comonomers. The specific examples describe the production of copolymers from vinyl chloride, hydroxypropyl acrylate, t-butyl acrylate and optionally glycidyl methacrylate by aqueous emulsion polymerization using sulphated ethoxylated isooctylphenol as emulsifier.
