titleOfInvention | Method and apparatus for desulpherising flue gas |
abstract | 1515046 Desulfurizing flue gases UNITED STATES ENERGY RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION 22 April 1976 [6 June 1975] 16273/76 Heading C1A A method of desulphurizing flue gas comprises conditioning the flue gas to a temperature not less than 100‹F and substantially complete water saturation (i.e. a saturation temperature not more than 20‹F below the temperature at which the gas enters the bed) and contacting the conditioned gas with a substantially dry bed of mono-, bi- or trivalent metal carbonates or bicarbonates to cause condensation of water on the bed and sulphur oxides to react to form a layer of reaction product on the scrubbing medium. In Fig. 3 stack gas at 300‹F is sprayed with water. The resulting gas (160‹F and H 2 O saturated) passes through two moving beds 11, 12 of dolomite or limestone to exit at 13. The used scrubbing medium passes via vibrating screen 15 and lift 17 to moving belt 19 which returns it to the hopper 20. |
