abstract 1510647 1,2,4-triazole derivatives COMMONWEALTH SCIENTIFIC & INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH ORGANIZATION 10 Oct 1975 41692/75 Addition to 1495258 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula wherein X 3 is F 3 , Cl 3 or F 2 Cl, R<SP>1</SP> is an aryl group substituted by at least two trihalomethyl groups and R<SP>2</SP> is H, alkyl or cycloalkyl each of up to C 12 , or aryl optionally substituted by C 1-4 alkoxy, C 1-4 alkyl, halogen or nitro, are prepared either by (a) reacting CX 3 -CONHNH 2 with R<SP>1</SP>C(Y) =NR<SP>2</SP> to form an amidrazone CX 3 .CO.NHNHC(R<SP>1</SP>)=NR<SP>2</SP> where Y is C 1-4 alkoxy, Cl or NH 2 , and subsequently heating the amidrazone, or (b) reacting R<SP>1</SP>CONHNH 2 with H 2 N.C(CF 3 )=NH.HX<SP>1</SP> to form an amidrazone of formula where HX<SP>1</SP> is an acid residue, and heating the amidrazone in aqueous alkali or in a highboiling solvent. In an Example, 3-[3,5-bis (trifluoromethyl)phenyl) - 5 - trifluoromethyl- 1,2,4 - triazole is prepared by method (b) above. The compounds have acaricidal and and insecticidal properties and will inhibit biological oxidation. In an example is prepared by heating with H 2 N.C(CF 3 ) = NH.HCl.
