abstract | 1509493 S - containing catalysts for treating exhaust gas NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 29 Jan 1976 [30 Jan 1975] 03492/76 Heading B1E A method of preparing a catalyst for treating exhaust gases produced by combustion of hydrocarbon fuel comprises coating a chemically inert and catalytically inactive refractory carrier with a sulphurcontaining compound of a catalytically active metal and beat treating the coated carrier in a stream of steam at a high temperature to decompose the compound and fix the active metal on the surface of the carrier, the sulphur - containing compound of at least one catalytically active metal being produced by reacting in a solvent an active metal compound and ammonium thioglycollate, ammonium thiosulphate or sodium thiosulphate. The active metal compound may be of Pt, Pd, Rh or Ru. The preparation of Pt on active alumina or active alumina - coated cordierite with thiosulphate or thioglycollate is exemplified. |
