abstract 1509021 Electro-photographic developers HITACHI Ltd and HITACHI CHEMICAL CO Ltd 19 March 1975 [20 March 1974(2)] 11508/75 Heading G2C [Also in Division C3] Liquid developers for electro-photography comprise a colouring agent, a coating agent, a resistivity controlling agent and a carrier liquid which disperses or dissolves said agents, the coating agent being a copolymer of para C 4-18 alkylstyrene and monomers of formula CH 2 =CR 1 COOR 2 where R 1 is H or CH 3 , R2 is H, Cn H 2 n N(R') 2 where n is 1 or 2 and R' is H, CH3 or C 2 H 5 , or Cm H 2 m O CeH 2 e+1 where m is 1-3 and 1 is 0-4; optionally with monomers of the above Formula where R2 is C 1-18 alkyl or glycidyl acrylate or methacrylate. Preferred resistivity controlling agents are polyvalent metal soaps, and preferred carriers are isoparaffinic hydrocarbons. The developer may contain a dye or C black, triphenyl, phosphite, trivetadecyl, phosphite, dibutyl tin oxide or butyl tin maleate.
