abstract 1508929 Shampoo GILLETTE CO 30 Nov 1976 [22 Dec 1975] 49934/76 Heading C5D An aqueous shampoo composition comprises water in combination with an ampholytic surfactant which is a 2-alkyl-substituted imidazoline, a nonionic surfactant which is: (a) a condensation product of ethylene oxide with a base formed by condensing propylene oxide with propylene glycol, and having a molecular weight of 1,000-15,000, (b) a condensation product of propylene oxide with a base formed by condensing ethylene oxide with ethylene glycol and having a molecular weight of 1,000-10,000, or (c) a condensation product of ethylene oxide with a base formed by condensing propylene oxide with ethylenediamine and having a molecular weight of 1,000-30,000, and an anionic surfactant which has the formula: where R is a hydrocarbon radical of 4 to 18 carbon atoms, n is a whole number from 5 to 30 inclusive, and M is an alkali metal, ammonium or a lower mono, di or tri-alkanolamine in which the alkyl groups contain from one to four carbon atoms, the composition containing from 6À0 to 15À0% by weight of the ampholytic surfactant, the weight ratio of the total of the nonionic and anionic surfactants to the ampholytic surfactant being from 1:1 to 5:1, and the weight ratio of the nonionic surfactant to the anionic surfactant being from 0À5:1 to 10:1.
