abstract | 1507118 N-sulphomethyl-3<SP>1</SP>,4<SP>1</SP>-dideoxy-kanamycin B derivatives ZAIDAN HOJIN BISEIBATSU KAGAKU KENKYU KAI 15 Sept 1976 [25 Sept 1975] 38256/76 Heading C2C Novel N - sulphomethyl - 3<SP>1</SP>,4<SP>1</SP> - dideoxykanamycin B derivatives of the general formula wherein R is hydrogen or optionally substituted alkyl or phenyl, M is hydrogen or an alkali metal and n is 1-5, are prepared by reacting 3<SP>1</SP>,4<SP>1</SP> - dideoxy - kanamycin B or an acid addition salt thereof with sulphurous acid or an alkali metal hydrogen sulphite and an aldehyde of the general formula RCHO. Pharmaceutical compositions having antibacterial activity comprise, as active ingredient, a N - sulphomethyl - 3<SP>1</SP>,4<SP>1</SP> - dideoxy - kanamycin B derivative of the first general formula above, together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier therefor. |
