titleOfInvention Method for recovering oil from an oil-bearing fractured formation and oil recovered by such method
abstract 1504192 Oil recovery SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 14 March 1975 10730/75 Heading E1F Oil is recovered from a formation comprising permeable blocks surrounded by a natural fracture network containing oil and gas separated by an oil/gas interface by increasing the temperature of at least part of the formation situated above the oil/gas interface by circulating a heat-exchanging fluid through the gas containing fractures of the network in that part of the formation. The temperature may be raised by injecting steam into the formation at a level above or below the gas/oil interface and removing gaseous fluids from a location in the gas containing part of the fracture network to promote the circulation of steam. In another embodiment the steam is replaced by an oxygen containing gas, with or without a combustible fluid, which is ignited within the gas containing fractures. In another embodiment the heat-exchanging fluid is hot water.
