abstract | 1498825 Anaerobic adhesive compositions LOCTITE CORP 19 Feb 1975 [19 Feb 1974] 6977/75 Headings C3P and C3R An anaerobic pressure sensitive adhesive composition comprises (a) an anaerobic resin system, (b) a thermoplastic polymer capable of mixing with (a) and (c) a catalyst for the curing of (a) comprising a peroxy compound, an organic accelerator, and a stabilizer for (a); the adhesive composition has a static shear strength of at least 2 minutes at a 250 gram load per 0À25 square inch, and a 180 degree peel value of at least 0À5 lb. per inch. In the examples, component (a) is (i), a mixture of the reaction product of hydroxypropyl methacrylate and methylene-bis-phenyl- 4,4<SP>1</SP>-diisocyanate, with triethylene glycol dimethacrylate, itself optionally mixed with (ii), a mixture of the polymer formed by hydroxypropylmethacrylate capping of a 1 : adduct of toluene diisocyanate and hydrogenated 2,2 - bis(4<SP>1</SP> - hydroxyphenyl)propane, with hydroxypropylmethacrylate, acrylic acid and methacryloxy propyl trimethoxysilane. Component (b) is either a vinyl chloride copolymer or a polyurethane resin, while component (c) is cumene hydroperoxide containing quinone/benzoic sulphimide/methylene-bis-dimethylaniline. |
