titleOfInvention | Method of polymerization of conjugated diolefins using iron catalysts and nitrogen containing compounds capable of chelating therewith |
abstract | 1498659 Iron-containing polymerization catalysts GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO 28 Oct 1975 [22 Nov 1974] 44293/75 Heading C3P Conjugated dienes are polymerized in the presence of a catalyst consisting of (a) an organic iron compound, (b) an organometallic compound and (c) a compound containing at least two functional groups and being capable of chelating with the iron compound, one of the functional groups being a cyano group, while the other essential group is selected from (i) cyano, (ii) azo, (iii) imino, (iv) vinylene, (v) mercapto and (vi) a group including an -S-linkage. Typical examples refer to the polymerization of butadiene, isoprene, 2-/4-methyl-1,3-pentadiene (pressent in a C 6 fraction), piperylene, dimethylbutadiene, butadiene/isoprene, isoprene/piperylene (in C 5 fraction) and other analogous diene mixtures, in the presence of (1) ferric octanoate, and ferric acetylacetonate, (2) Et 3 Al, Et 2 AlCl, Et 2 AlOEt, n-BuLi, Et 4 AlLi, NaAlEt 2 H 2 , Et 2 AlH, (i-C 6 H 13 ) 3 Al and Et 2 AlI, and (3) tetracyanoethylene, acrylonitrile, azobis-isobutyronitrile, butyl thiocyanate, and glutaronitrile (comparative). Stereo-structures of many of the polymers are given. |
