abstract 1498520 Detergent compositions PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 21 April 1975 [22 April 1974] 16368/75 Heading C5D [Also in Division C3] A detergent composition having soil release properties comprises (a) from 5 to 99% by weight of a water soluble anionic, non-ionic, zwitterionic or ampholytic detergent, or a mixture thereof, and (b) at least 0À05% by weight of a methyl cellulose ether having a D.S. methyl of at least 2À1, provided that when the composition is liquid the methyl cellulose has a viscosity, measured as a 2% aqueous solution at 20‹ C., of from 20 to 250 centipoises. The compositions may be in liquid or granular form. The detergent may be an ethoxylated alcohol, a sulphated tallow alcohol, or an alkyl benzene sulphonate and the composition may include builders, hydrotropes, kaolinite, sodium sulphosuccinate, silica, an alkanolamine, potassium chloride, citric acid, ethyl alcohol, water and sodium sulphate.
