titleOfInvention Process for continuous sulphonation and/or sulphation of organic compounds
abstract 1496266 Continuous suiphonation and/or sulphation of organic compounds BEROL KEMI AB 30 May 1975 [5 June 1974] 23687/75 Heading C2C [Also in Division B1] Organic sulphonates and sulphates are obtained by continuously sulphonating and/or sulphating organic compounds with a mixture of SO 3 and an inert gas by bringing the organic compounds into contact with the SO 3 mixture in a liquid state in a single pass through a reactor, wherein the SO 3 mixture is distributed over not more than the first 80% of the total length of the reactor running from the inlet point for the organic substance and not more than 7% v./v. of the stoichiometrically necessary amount of SO 3 is introduced at the first inlet stage for said gas mixture reached by the incoming organic substance. Examples are given for the sulphonation of dodecyl benzene and sulphation of lauryl alcohol.
