Sodium carboxymethyl succinate, sodium carboxymethyl phthalate, sodium carboxymethyl tetrahydrophthalate, and sodium hexahydrophthalate are also prepared similarly. Sodium sulphoethyl maleate is prepared by reacting maleic anhydride with sodium isethionate.
