These compounds may be obtained by treating meta-terphenyl with a mixture of an acylating agent and a Friedel Craft's catalyst (at a temperature - 80 to 20 C.), heating the reaction mixture from 10 to 80 C., separating the products consisting of 4,4<SP>1</SP>- and/or 41,4<SP>111</SP>-meta-terphenyl di-acyl derivatives, and thereafter converting said diacyl derivatives to the corresponding tetracarbonyl derivatives by a known method. |
