titleOfInvention Sulphonic derivatives of polyoxapolyfluoroalkanes
abstract 1489808 Polyoxapolyfluoroalkane sulphonates MONTEDISON SpA 16 May 1975 [30 May 1974] 20806/75 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] Alkali or ammonium polyoxapolyfluoroalkane sulphonates of general formula where the units -C 2 F 4 O- and -CF 2 O- are randomly distributed along the chain, m and n are integers, (m+n) is 2-10, m/n is 0À2-1À5; A is a monovalent radical of formula R is a divalent radical in α,γ or α,# position and is an alkylene, cycloalkylene, arylene or benzylene radical, and optionally contains one or more substituents chosen from Cl, alkyl and alkoxy groups, M is an alkali metal atom, H or ammonium group, B is the same as A or is -CH 2 OH, are prepared by reacting an α,# - bis - (hydroxymethyl)polyoxaperfluoroalkane of general formula HOCH 2 [CF 2 O(C 2 F 4 O) m (CF 2 O) n CF 2 ]CH 2 OH or an alkali metal or ammonium dialcoholate thereof with a sultone of formula The value of (m+n) is preferably 4-10. In the examples the compounds (i) in which m/n = 0À9 and the starting diol had mol. wt. 474, and (ii) where m/n = 0À9 and av. mol. wt. is 858, are produced.
