titleOfInvention | Improvements in and relating to the prevention of incrustation on the walls of steamboilers, feed heaters, and the like by electrolysis |
abstract | 148,778. Rummel, O. April 24, 1918, [Convention date]. Incrustation, preventing. - Incrustation of boilers, feed heaters, &c. is prevented by adding to the water in a finely divided state a conducting substance such as graphite or carbon, or metals such as zinc or aluminium, and connecting the walls of the boiler &c. to to the negative pole of a source of electricity, an electrode connected to the positive pole being immersed in the water. The finely divided substance may be obtained by means of a high-pressure steam jet or by forming an arc between electrodes of the substance immersed in water whereby a colloidal solution of the substance is obtained. |
