abstract | 1487107 Solvent composition ALLIED CHEMICAL CORP 4 June 1975 [19 June 1974] 24136/75 Heading C5D A composition of substantially constant boiling temperature consists of trichlorofluoromethane in an amount over 98% by weight and ethanol or isopropanol or a mixture thereof in an amount less than 2% by weight and such that the boiling temperature of the composition varies by less than 5 C. at 760 mm. pressure over its entire boiling range. The composition may be one which contains 98À9% by weight of trichlorofluoromethane and 1À1% by weight of ethanol, boiling at 23À5 C., or 99À5% by weight of trichlorofluoromethane and 0À5% by weight of isopropanol and boiling at 24À8 C. or 98À6% by weight of trichlorofluoromethane, 0À7% by weight of ethanol and 0À7% by weight of isopropanol and boiling at 24À5 C. The compositions may be used to clean or dry a substrate, e.g. by removing resin fluxes from electrical apparatus, and may be used in metal machinery as a lubricant when a cleaning action is also required. |
