titleOfInvention Method of adhesive bonding
abstract 1486905 Melt adhesive polyamides VEBACHEMIE AG 23 Aug 1974 [4 Sept 1973] 37152/74 Heading C3R [Also in Division B5] Articles are adhesively secured with a melt adhesive which is an unplasticized copolyamide of M.W. at least 2000 derived from monomers essentially consisting of an unbranched C 6-20 aliphatic dicarboxylic acid; an amine mixture consisting of (a) 20 to 80 mol per cent of an unbranched C 6-20 aliphatic diamine and (b) 80 to 20 mol. per cent of a branched aliphatic diamine having 3 alkyl groups and/or an alkylsubstituted carbocyclic cycloaliphatic diamine; and optionally an aminocarboxylic acid or lactam in an amount such that the molar ratio of dicarboxylic acid : amino-acid is greater than 9 : 1. Such adhesive is particularly suitable for application in powder form for bonding textile materials. In specific examples the dicarboxylic acid is adipic, azelaic or dodecane dicarboxylic acid (1,12); the diamine (a) is hexa- or dodecamethylene diamine; and the diamine (b) is trimethylhexamethylene diamine (mixed 2,4,4 and 2,2,4-isomers) or a mixture thereof with isophorone diamine. In example 1 caprolactam is also used.
