abstract 1482980 Heterocyclic substituted chromeno CIBA-GEIGY AG 31 Oct 1975 [13 Nov 1974] 45391/75 Heading C4P The invention comprises compounds of the general formula wherein ring A is a heterocyclic radical optionally containing a further hetero atom, X and Y which may be the same or different are C 1 -C 12 alkyl, C 1 -C 12 alkoxy, phenyl optionally substituted by C 1 -C 4 alkyl, nitro, halogen, amino optionally mono- or di-substituted by C 1 -C 12 alkyl, C 2 -C 12 acyl or benzyl, and ring B is optionally substituted by nitro or 1-4 halogen atoms. Preferably A contains 3-15 ring members and is especially pyrrolidino, piperidino or morpholino, X is 4 phenyl p-substituted by methyl or nitro and Y is methyl or phenyl. They are prepared by reacting a benzophenone compound of the general formula wherein R is H or C 1 -C 4 alkyl with a 1-X-3-Y- pyrazolone and X, Y, A and B are as above. The reaction takes place in presence of an acidic condensation agent at 50-130‹ C. The compounds are used in pressure sensitive and thermoreactive recording systems.
