titleOfInvention 5-(substituted-benzoyloxy)pyrazoles and a process for their conversion to 4-benzoyl-pyrazole derivatives
abstract 1481161 5-(Benzoyloxy)pyrazoles and their conversion to 4-(benzoyl)-5-hydroxypyrazoles SANKYO CO Ltd 11 June 1976 [19 June 1975 (2)] 24387/76 Heading C2C 5 - Benzoyloxy - pyrazoles of general formula in which R<SP>1</SP> is C 1-3 alkyl or C 3-4 alkenyl, R<SP>2</SP> is C 1-3 alkyl, X is halogen, C 1-4 alkyl or alkoxy, or nitro and n= 1, 2 or 3, the X substituents being optionally different when n=2 or 3, are prepared by reacting a pyrazolone of general formula with a benzoic acid derivative or with an acid anhydride or halide thereof. Amongst the examples 1,3-dimethyl-5-(2,4-dichlorobenzoyloxy)pyrazole and 1,3 - dimethyl- 5 - (2 - nitro - 5 - methylbenzoyloxy)pyrazole are produced. 4 - (Substituted benzoyl) - 5- hydroxypyrazoles of general formula are obtained as further products by treating a benzoyloxy compound of Formula I with more than one equivalent of a basic alkali metal or alkaline earth metal compound or with more than one mole of AlCl 3 per mole of pyrazole followed, if desired, by acidification of the reaction product to obtain a free compound which may be further salified to give a metal salt thereof.
