titleOfInvention | Process for the manufacture of carbonated hydrated zirconium oxide |
abstract | 1480088 Basic zirconium carbonate TH GOLDSCHMIDT AG 27 Nov 1974 [28 Nov 1973] 51448/74 Heading ClA A carbonated hydrated zirconium oxide is prepared by dispensing zirconium oxychloride octahydrate in air inert, non-polar solvent and reacting it with at least an equimolar amount of of NH 4 CO 3 or K 2 CO 3 (without addition of water) the reactiion product is then filtered off, washed with water until free of chloride, and dried. The solvent used is preferably perchloroethylene or a homologue thereof. The carbonated hydrated zirconium oxide may be heated at 120-130‹ C. to convert it to an extremely basic carbonated hydrated zirconium oxide, or may be calcined 800-900‹ C. to zirconium oxide. |
