abstract | 1479264 3 - (5 - Phenyl - 2 - furyl) - 3- hydroxypropionic acid and derivatives thereof MORTON-NORWICH PRODUCTS Inc 22 April 1976 [20 Aug 1975] 16421/76 Headings C2C and C2J [Also in Division C3] Novel compounds of the Formula I wherein X is hydrogen, 4-chloro, bromo or fluoro, 3-chloro, or 3,4-dichloro and R is hydrogen or ethyl may be prepared by reacting a compound II with a compound ZCH 2 COOEt where Z is BrZn or Li and optionally hydrolysing the ethyl ester formed to the free acid. Lithio ethylacetate is prepared by reacting ethyl acetate with lithium bis(trimethylsilyl)amide or lithium N-isopropylcyclohexylamide. The latter compound is prepared by reacting n-butyllithium with N-isopropylcyclohexylamine. The compounds I show pharmaceutical activity as anti-inflammatory agents. |
