titleOfInvention Production of fatty acid esters of fructose
abstract 1477880 Fructose esters by fermentation KYOWA HAKKO KOGYO CO Ltd 27 Aug 1974 [29 Aug 1973] 37463/74 Heading C2C Fatty acid esters of fructose, namely esters of one mole of fructofuranose with 1, 2, 4 or 5 mols of an α-brancbed-#- hydroxy fatty acid wherein R<SP>1</SP> is alkyl group (8-22 C), and R<SP>11</SP> is a alkyl group (15-61 C) are prepared by culturing a microorganism of genus Arthrobacter, Corynebacterium, Nocardia or Mycobacterium in a hydrocarbon free medium containing fructose. Specific microorganisms are Arthrobacter paraffinous and hydrocarboglutamicus; Nocardia paraffinica, globerula, and convoluta; Corynebacterium hydrocarboclastus and pseudodiphtheriticum; Mycobacterium rubrum, paraffinicum, and smegmatis. The esters are recovered by separating the microbial cells from the culture liquor, extracting the cells with an organic solvent system, vaporizing the system, further extracting and finally eluting the fatty acid esters.
