abstract | Use of non-crystalline, alpha , beta -ethylenically unsaturated polyesters mixed with copolymerisable vinyl or vinylidene compounds and cellulose esters of organic monocarboxylic acids gives resin compositions which can be cured with low shrinkage in that the non-crystalline polyesters have a certain compatibility with the copolymerisable monomers and the cellulose esters have a minimum viscosity and defined hydroxyl numbers. Mixing of the individual components at elevated temperatures and cooling of the mixture causes the latter to solidify to give a solid, gelatinous composition, which is granulated to give a free-flowing moulding composition or can be converted into a glass fibre-reinforced, granulated compression-moulding composition by addition of glass fibres. |
