abstract | 1471351 Charcoal containing latex foams COMBE Inc 17 Jan 1974 [26 Jan 1973] 2166/74 Heading C3C A deodorizer sheet has open cells allowing for the passage of air therethrough and comprises an open celled latex foam and finely ground activated charcoal for deodorizing homogeneously dispersed throughout the latex foam. The sheet is made by forming a homogeneous mixture comprising a foamable, curable latex mix used to produce an open-celled foam and finely ground activated charcoal, frothing the mixture and forming it into a sheet on a flat surface, and then curing and drying the sheet. In the example a styrene-butadiene polymer latex is mixed with sulphur, zinc oxide, dioctyl sodium sulphosuccinate, potassium persulphate, dioctyl phosphite, silica and the activated charcoal and the mixture is homogenized in two mixers in series, air being injected into the first mixer, and the foam is fed on to a layer of fabric or to a paper with a release surface and the foam is then cured and dried by heating to form material for shoe inserts. |
