titleOfInvention | Spectrally supersensitized silver halide photographic emulsions |
abstract | 1466409 Supersensitizing silver halide emulsions FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 6 Dec 1974 [6 Dec 1973] 52925/74 Heading G2C A silver halide photographic emulsion contains a supersensitizing combination for the red wavelength region comprising at least one dye of general Formula:- and at least one dye of general Formula:- in which Z<SP>1</SP> and Z<SP>2</SP> each complete an optionally substituted benzimidazole nucleus; R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> each represents an optionally substituted aliphatic group, at least one of R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> being hydroxy- alkyl or substituted alkyl containing a carboxy or sulpho group, Z<SP>3</SP> completes an optionally substituted benzoxazole or #-naphthoxazole nucleus; Z<SP>4</SP> completes an optionally substituted benzothiazole, benzoselenazole, #-naphthothiazole or #-naphthoselenazole nucleus; R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> each represents an optionally substituted aliphatic group at least one of R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> being substituted alkyl containing a carboxy or sulpho group; R<SP>5</SP> is H or alkyl; X<SP>1</SP> and X<SP>2</SP> each represent an acid anion; and m and n are 0 or 1. A red-sensitizing carbocyanine dye of Formula III may also be present:- Y<SP>1</SP> and Y<SP>2</SP> complete optionally substituted benzothiazole, benzoselenazole or naphthothiazole nuclei; R<SP>6</SP> and R<SP>7</SP> are optionally substituted aliphatic groups, R<SP>8</SP> is lower alkyl or aryl, and X<SP>3</SP> and r are the same as defined for X<SP>1</SP> and m. When the emulsion is coated on a support an overlying red filter layer may be provided. |
