titleOfInvention | Process for reducing the concentration of acetylenic compounds in a hydrocarbon mixture |
abstract | 1465015 Removing acetylenes from hydrocarbon mixtures SNAMPROGETTI SpA 13 May 1975 [21 May 1974 21 March 1975] 20211/75 Heading C5E The acetylene content of hydrocarbon mixtures is reduced by contact with a liquid organic compound containing at least one hydroxy group in the presence of an acid ion-exchange resin containing mercuric ions to cause reaction between the acetylene and the hydroxy compound. The hydroxy compound may be an alcohol or glycol and the ether produced in the reaction may be removed by distillation. The reaction may be carried out in the gaseous or liquid phase. The ion-exchange resin may contain sulphonic or carboxylic groups. Examples describe the removal of propyne, but-1-yne, but-2-yne, vinyl acetylene and diacetylene from butadiene and propylene. |
