titleOfInvention | Thermally stabilised polymers |
abstract | 1464329 Thermally stabilizing methyl methacrylate polymers ROHM & HAAS CO 20 June 1975 [8 July 1974] 26277/75 Heading C3P Methyl methacrylate polymers are thermally stabilized with 0À001 to 1 weight per cent based on the polymer of at least one di-t-alkyl disulphide. The polymer may be a homopolymer or copolymer with an acrylic or methacrylic ester, styrene, unsaturated acid or anhydride, vinyl or allyl ester. The stabilizer may be incorporated in the polymer melt, latex, granules or powder, or may be added to the monomers from which the polymer is derived. In examples methyl methacrylate/ethyl acrylate copolymers, methyl methacrylate/α - methylstyrene/ethyl acrylate copolymers and three stage polymers prepared by successively polymerizing methyl methacrylate/ethyl acrylate/allyl methacrylate, butyl acrylate/styrene/allyl methacrylate and methyl methacrylate/ethyl acrylate, and mixtures thereof with methyl methacrylate/ethyl acrylate copolymers are stabilized with di-t.- dodecyl, di-t.-butyl, di-t.-octyl, di-t.-hexadecyl and di-t.-eicosyl disulphides. |
