abstract 1462043 Combating overwintering fungal disease IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 7 Feb 1974 [22 Feb 1973 6 July 1973] 8753/73 and 32213/73 Heading A5E A process for combating overwintering fungal disease comprises applying to plants, bushes, shrubs or trees whilst in or approaching a dormant phase, a composition comprising a surface active agent as the sole or principal anti-fungal constituent. The surface active agent may be a condensate of an alkylphenol or a fatty alcohol with ethylene oxide, an ester of a polyhydric anhydride, and a fatty acid condensed with an alkylene oxide, or a salt of a dialkyl sulphonated dicarboxylic acid. Other fungicides such as ethirimol and pyrimidine sulphamate esters also may be present in the composition. A particular application is combating Podospheara leuchotricha in apple trees.
